Researchers of Hospital Veterinário do Oeste Lourinhã (Portugal) recently presented a poster at the Nursing conference in Montenegro, Portugal. A 4 years old Border Collie had chronic hyperplastic dermatitis with abundant granulation tissue. This tissue was removed surgically.The wound however presented 15 days later extremely irrigated and exuberant granulation tissue. L-Mesitran was successfully used to avoid another surgery. The Austrian society of veterinarians published an article by Dutch DMV Sietske Wijnmaalen and Alex Brander (RN). The Dutch team researched the clinical use of L-Mesitran in the treatment of wounded horses and its influence on the formation of proud flesh. L-Mesitran cuts down the first stage of wound healing, according to the authors, and as such limits the formation of proud flesh. A 24 year old male smashed his leg under a factory vehicle. Unfortunately the leg needed to be amputated.
